How do you put a necklace on once you've closed the stitching?

I've seen several necklaces/collars/chokers or what have you made with a peyote stitch and I've been thinking about making one myself but how would you be able to put it back on once you finished it? (photo credit goes to {fluffykittypawz})

I've only made one peyote collar, but the way I do it is I do the regular peyote stitch and tie it off at the end without connecting it. Then I take a small piece of ribbon or string and thread it through the ends and tie it. Then when I want to take it off I just untie the ribbon! thumbs up I can post a picture of it when I get home (if I can find my camera...)

Well if you were using just a regular elastic, it might be hard. But what I would do it use a really (I mean super) stretchy string, like the string thats covered in cloth, that stuff is SUPER stretchy. lol happy hope I helped
