Spencers selling kandi- what are your thoughts about that?

Nveryioth 8/25/2013 06:02 pm 1344

So the other day me, my mom, and my friend went into Spencers to get a backpack but I saw cuffs. I didn't really look at them too much but I know I saw at least three different types, including a pattern cuff. I didn't say anything about it, but I personally didn't really like it too much. It's not something I would start a huge debate about, because you know, they just wanna make money, but it's not PLUR D: What are your thoughts? -EDIT- oh my glob guys, my friend posted this -.- but I'll keep it up anyways XD

I don't believe we can actually live by "PLUR", I believe w can only try. That being said I don't think Spencer's was trying to be "PLUR" by selling kandi.

ive personally sold a lot of my "kandi" stuff. my minions, jewelry, purses, wallets, computer cases, those little things that hang from ur car mirror. they all have the same meaning to me and its alittle extra money in my pocket. people may be against it and frankly, I don't really care lol its all made from the heart and it all takes time. I don't go to raves or anything and I don't hang out with people that do. but I really enjoy making my creations. being a stay at home mom, my son LOVES when I make him stuff <3 I do agree though, that the stores shouldn't be selling things "kandi", even if they wanna label it differently. the prices are ridiculous and people that buy them must not know HOW to make their own, so they buy them to trade and work with it that way. does that make sense??

The Spencer’s I go to started selling kandi also and at first I felt pretty upset because they were selling kandi and kandi isn’t meant to be sold but I think what a lot of kandi kids don’t understand is that they aren’t selling “kandi” if you look on the tags it says “pony bead jewelry” and jewelry is meant to be sold. I personally don’t think that selling kandi is necessarily against plur, to me plur is a lot more than just bracelets and I think a lot of people don’t think about that, and they automatically think that it’s wrong to sell kandi. Selling kandi is a pretty touchy subject and a lot of people probably won’t agree with me but I think that if they want to sell “pony bead jewelry” that’s fine with me, if they started labeling it “kandi” I would probably more upset but as cellularmango said we all got into kandi so why is it so hard to believe that stores wouldn't too. If you don’t like people selling kandi, don’t buy it, it’s that simple.

Copy-paste from two of my comments on this subject. Kind of long, but eh: “I'm so over places selling. Like, you know once things go out of style, or just no one buys them [for countless reasons]- they get moved to the sale rack and never come back? That's what's going to happen eventually. But the only thing people can do next to complaining and getting bent out of shape about it is to just not buy it. I don't see people making this much of a commotion over all of the sellers on Etsy and other various individuals other places. People only attack Hot Topic and Spencer's [other companies] and I wonder what the logic is behind leaving the individuals alone? Most of the people who have this terrible-awful opinion of companies and individuals who sell are more often than not way younger leading them to be those who don't rave [not all, though]. I hate to turn it into the whole ‘raver/non-raver’ thing and being younger [because I made kandi/’kandi’/beaded jewelry for four years before I went to an event], but in my eyes it kind of looks like it comes to that nowadays. The older individuals who have participated in the rave culture are way more calm about the whole selling thing than the super-mass of 12-15 year olds who have [in my opinion honestly] seemingly taken over. They take PLUR to an extreme that I wish didn't exist and in that extreme, the attitude of PLUR-ness they believe they're giving is immediately demolished. I mean if people are going to advertise the mess out of it and write ‘PLUR’ everywhere, expect people and companies to be curious and jump on the bandwagon. I mean, didn't we all jump onto the kandi bandwagon in one way or another? ‘People need to stop caring that people sell. It’s not a shame. It’s life and business. People need to grow up and get over it. You don’t buy kandi. You buy jewelry. You don’t trade jewelry. You trade kandi.’” Kandi isn't all about PLUR honestly. That is the huge misunderstanding and misconception a lot of [younger] people have. It goes way deeper and way beyond PLUR.
