black jeans and black shirts sold in regular stores are fine, theres a lot of cheap accessories available online at places like ebay, i diy a lot of my own jewelry which is fun! the only stuff which might be hard for u to find are belts and shoes, but its more about what you do with what you have versus spending 300 dollars at one specialty store per outfit

i get some of the most random stuff that you would never think could be alt from thrift stores and then i rip em up and sew them and stuff until they look how i want them to.

(seriously even a pair of friggin k h a k i s can be made alt if you vandalize them enoughrainbowsmile)

i’m trying to get into goth fashion too and like honestly i have no clue—

my go to outfit is black pants, band shirt tucked in, black studded belt, thrifted trench coat and my ripoff doc martens lmao

if you have any costume stores near you you can get fishnet gloves/fishnet shirts there, there’s one near me that’s costumes AND alternative fashion so it’s rlly useful to get stuff from, but regular costume stores work too i think

-you can find tights at the dollar tree. rip them up and wear them as tights, or tear a hole in the crotch area and wear it as a shirt.

-if there's a spirit halloween near you, you can sometimes find some pretty cool accessories for not-that-expensive. and makeup! i get a lot of my makeup there.

-gloves, tights, sometimes really cheap corsets but you'd have to try those on to make sure they don't look like ass lol

-yeah spirit halloween clothes are cheap as shit but if you know how to take care of them and make sure the thing your buying isn't already falling appart, they should last a decent amount of time.

-claire's actually has some stuff too sometimes! a lot of it is made for little kids but the claire's near me has cool gloves, socks, legwarmers.

-you can find graphic tees on amazon pretty easily! they're pretty much a staple in emo + scene styles and, especially if you get a lot of black ones, go with anything.

-5-below also has graphic tees for $5. the designs kinda suck most of the time but sometimes they don't suck woo $5 t-shirt

-a lot of the coolest punk outfits look relatively effortless, as in, literally just use whatever you have in the closet. rip it up, scruff it up if needed. i've had my favorite pair of shoes for over 4 years. they're bursting at the seems, don't have laces (cuz i grew out of them and laces made them uncomfortable), and ive drawn over drawings that were drawn over drawings so many times they look like i found them in a dumpster. they make all my outfits 100x cooler (unless you're my mom? ig? idc i rlly like those shoes)

-basically just scribble on your jeans, rip up your tights, invest in legwarmers from stores targeted at small children, and, i mean, you're already on a kandi website so adding little beaded additions to all your shit (beads on safety pins for mildly interesting charm things, beads on shoelaces, singles or small cuffs (or big cuffs if you feel like it), earrings (beaded or perler-beaded). all that. should be a given.

-you shouldn't have to pay over $50 for a punk item. $50 is a stretch honestly. if you can afford big shoes buy the big shoes but don't think that's what you have to look for! punk fashion in particular is designed to be cheap and diy. you probably already know that but it's always good to remember!
