I want to know how to make this type of cuff!

I got this awesome cuff at a show and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to make it. It's not a multi stitch and I thought it was a peyote but its not. Everything is lined up and the ends are flat. If you know how to make this let me know!

Its more like a ladder cuff.

It looks like square stitch. I hate that stitch, to be honest. It's very time-consuming and uses a ton of string. But if you google something like square stitch tutorial you will find lots.
