@garrettschueman: We also use Arctic Fox when we do our hair. We also recommend Strawberry Leopard. Our mom uses both all the time. {Also: Strawberry Leopard bubbles when first washed out] -Foxy

I have permenately dyed my hair black before and here's what worked with me: NOT box dye, absolutely do not use box dye it's super damaging

Instead it's better to go to sally's beauty & use 30 vol developer and a tube of permeneant dye (that's how it goes, according to instructions)

But yeah, when you first dye only do one wash, do NOT shampoo. Don't wash your hair for at least three days after, and when you end up shampooing for the first time, do so lightly. And also be sure to use some type of hair treatment (coditioner, hair mask) like a week after to keep hair healthy happy

im ginger too, but i bleached mine first. certain dye i didn't bleach before in the past, like splat. but i wouldnt recomend that brand. i use arctic fox, and touch it up every few weeks when it fades. wash your hair w/ cold water too, and it should fade slower. but i recomend testing a small strip to make sure no bleach is actually required, and so you know youre not allergic to the dye. /srs
