Is selling Kandi a bad thing? (+ Examples of my kandi creations!)

wybies_world 5/11/2022 11:32 am 1233

Basically, I remember watching someone on youtube during the very beginning of my kandi journey to NEVER sell kandi because of something along the lines of "kandi kids don't like when people sell stuff because it's such a simple craft to teach to others," and "We don't sell kandi, only trade." Is this true? Or does it depend on the kandi kid? I would honestly love to offer some sort of kandi making lessons in my community/sell some of my singles, perlers, and cuffs, because my coworkers keep suggesting it to me, and I think it's a good idea to get my foot out the door when it comes to selling stuff I created. So, to reiterate, is selling kandi a bad thing? Many thanks for reading!!! twirlingheart

(P.S., Here's just some examples of what I've created, I would highly appreciate people's thoughts on them!)

to some people its seen as inauthentic to my knowledge but in my personal opinion selling kandi is fine so long as it isnt a gift/trade you got or some store selling mass-produced kandi

for the former situation i feel like its insensitive to give away a gift unless you Absolutely Cannot Use It Anymore for some reason and for the latter kandi is partially about the end result and partially about the love put into it. selling kandi you personally made means it still has the love, whereas kandi coming from some factory line has the shambling decaying carcass of love being piloted by the parasite of capitalism. yknow? i dont count independent businesses like etsy sellers in those kinds of stores though. otherwise itd be hypocritical, paradoxical, or both

tl;dr selling kandi is entirely chill if its not made to be one of millions for store shelves or something you got from someone else rainbowsmile

untrue!! I've seen a bunch even giving away cuffs for free. its all about plur. The reason why some feel like they shouldn't sell kandi is because it doesn't feel as authentic. I can kind of see where they're coming from but it isn't bad to. Also, saying you have to make your own stuff is a little ableist because some people have disabilities that don't allow them to make kandi at all or as much as they would like to. Basically, kandi is kind of about the experience/community

people who get tight about selling hard things to ake becuase its easy for them to make have no idea of how anything works, what if sobody dosent want to spend 30 dollars on ebads and strings and charms and hours learning to make one braclette they can pay 4 dollars for from sombody on ets. like forcing sombody to learn a entire craft and pay for beads just bc it seems easy to you isnt very plur of you!! what if sombody who has limited mobility in their arms wants a cuff? selling inherently makes things more inclusive, even if it seems very nit picky to say that, it IS true. though i do hope companies dont catch on THAT would be worth getting tight over. kandi should be accsessable to everyone, but also kandi shouldnt be sold like depop goodwill resellers. i imagine inclusivity is more important then some made up moral code lol

some people don't have the time or patience to make things like 3d cuffs even if they really want them. I think selling kandi is great so long as the prices aren't insane. lil rainbow

honestly it dependz on u. a lot of ppl out there dont have the materials necessary or specific colours, or their parents jst wont let them do that kind of artsy stuff, so it would benefit those ppl. ur kandi looks rly good, and as other ppl have said as long as u dont break PLUR code while selling, it should be ok!! animal03
