Peyote Stitch String?

lunarboi 2/28/2013 12:01 pm 2661

I'm having the hardest time trying to find fishing line. I've looked at Micheal's and Hobby Lobby. They didn't have it. So, I was wondering if there was a different kind of string I could use. So, what would you recommend?

I use a brand called bead n stretch. kinda like a generic stretch magic sold at walmart and most craft stores around here. I find it's "less stretchy" than stretch magic though, so it holds better for peyote charms when i don't have fishing line. what I used I believe is .8mm but I'm sure 1mm would work too.

I got mine at Walmart. I use the 30lb test and it comes with 250 yards. I've had mine for awhile and I've BARELY made a dent

Look at walmart in the camping isle. At craft stores like michaels and hobby lobby they call it monofilament beading wire. It's a lot thinner and more expensive.

i believe walmart sells fishing line. you could always go to like a store that specializes in fishing supplies and see if they have any there. I use crafting style fishing line that's made specially for crafting (from hobby lobby, near where the string is)because that's the only stuff i have avaliable to me.

I doubt Hobby Lobby or any other crafts store would ever have fishing line. I bought mine at Walmart for $9 in July of last year, and I still have plenty to use. Good luck~
