This is a great help! I've never made a mask before and had no idea where to begin. I was thinking of starting the stitch in the middle of the mask, but your approach with starting towards the top is a much better idea! I'll so keep this in mind when I make my kitty mask happy

after you complete the first part sucessfully how do you add on the new string for the second part? could you post a picture or a video. i mean i assume you just thread a long piece of string through again but then you have sting on both ends and im scared to continue because i dont want the two ends to be on one side when i am done. hopefully that makes sense and you understand my question

is it like s pattern kuff where each line starts in a new spot (the whole diagonal thing) im making my first pattern kuff then moving on to the mask, i wanna be able to accurately follow the pattern thanks!
