New Site Theme

Hi everyone,

I am in the process of switching the site over to a new theme which is designed to be easier to use and mobile-friendly. I also made some improvements to the site features.

At the time I am posting this I have not yet made the theme live, but I will be making it live within an hour or two (the time now is May 31st, 2:30pm PST).

Major Site Changes:

Search: You can now use checkboxes to filter by multiple pattern types, meaning you can choose to see both perler and mask patterns
Pattern categories: Although I don't yet have the same filtering set up for categories, the pattern types you can choose are more specific. You can choose to see things like masks and bikinis instead of just "multi" and "peyote."
Many of the text fields around the site have a new text editor, and in some areas the text editor has an image icon which lets you insert an image directly into the body of your text.
There are lots of new emoticons!

Pattern Maker:

The pattern maker is still not mobile-friendly but I am working on that and that will be coming next!

Attention mobile users:

If you would prefer to see a desktop-style version of the site, scroll to the bottom of the site and there is a link in the footer which lets you switch to desktop mode.

Have you found a problem or bug?

Look in the site footer. There is a link for Report a bug / problem with the site where you can report it to me.

Is there something from the old theme that you really miss?

I will miss certain things about it too, but unfortunately the design did not lend itself to a mobile friendly design so I had to redesign everything. But if it's a feature or simple style change that I could possibly add into the new theme, I might be able to do it for you! Just comment on this thread.

@ashy761: you should be able to delete your favorites. I have checked that it works. Can you message me with the specific one(s) you were trying to delete? There might be some odd reason why you can't delete those ones.

Oh, I just checked and I think it was jumping to the top of the screen a bit when you removed a favorite. Is it possible that the screen jumped and so you didn't see it get removed? That's the only issue I can see and I've just fixed that. But like I said, if it's still not working message me with the ones you are trying to remove and I'll see what's wrong. I didn't change any of the server-side adding/removing favorites code so there really shouldn't be any problems.

@ashy761: OH are you talking about deleting your saved designs? I think that might be what you are talking about, because the button appears to be missing. I will add it back for you right now.

I like the new theme. I did not expect it to be changed when I came on here again. For some odd reason I think you put kitty icons because I kept putting hello kitty at the end of most of my comments. lol .

Haha I actually originally set up the kitty icons back in 2013 so I don't remember why I did it, I think I just thought they were cute. I'm not even a cat person, I'm a dog person, and there are not enough dog emoticons for my liking!

@ashy761: I can tell from your comment reply that your browser is using an outdated version of one of our site files. I tried to do a force clear on our side but your browser is still caching it for some reason. You should try clearing your browser's cache. If it stops jumping to the top of the page, that means you've now got the updated version. If it stops jumping but still isn't deleting, message me with the ones you are trying to delete and I will do more research into it.

@ashy761: I also just made some other changes to the removing favorites code, minor improvements in case one of them might help the problem.

I think it'd be pretty cool to add the x-base pattern to the free designer. I know whenever I first start a x-base I don't know which colors or how many"x-rows" would be on there lol
