Hi everyone,

I thought I'd tell you about a few of the things I've done on the site today:

On the search results page, there has been a "Match Preferences" widget in the sidebar for a while. I recently noticed that it wasn't working; it wasn't affecting the results that were shown. I have now fixed it, so if you don't like the results you are getting, please try adjusting it. "Smart Match" gives the most relevant results overall, but sometimes the other options can be useful.

As an example of how you can use it... imagine you are searching for hello kitty. If you choose "Match exact phrase" you will ONLY get patterns that have the exact phrase "hello kitty." If you choose "Match any words," you will get patterns that have "hello kitty," "hello," and "kitty."The home page now tells you when the last batch of patterns was published, and how many were published. There's also a link to view the most recent batch of published patterns. The voting page now has some statistics at the bottom about how many patterns have been uploaded/approved over the past week and month. I thought some of you might find it interesting to see what percentage of patterns are currently being approved. You will find that it varies though, depending on the type/amount of patterns being uploaded

I'm going to have to delay the update I was planning on pushing today. Some of the bugs were about speed or related to speed, and I have found a way to make the pattern maker run faster, but it's taking me longer to finish the update as a result. I don't want to put it up when it's only half-updated because that would cause problems between the half that has been sped up and the half that hasn't (to put it simply). You would end up with worse bugs than there are now.

What this means: until I push the next update the bugs and speed issues will remain as they are. When I push the next update I might put it on a separate URL at first to ensure there are no serious problems. I'll let you know if I put it on a separate URL.

@Purple_Kandi_Rainbow: I'm trying to decide... a few people are using it. I could let more people start using it tomorrow if I wanted to. Maninthebook has been using it for her awesome patterns recently. When I do release it, it will be in a "testing" stage, with features still being fixed/added.

The problem is: I am starting a new full-time job next week and I'm not sure if I want to let people try this at the same time that I am starting a new job. With this job there will be a lot to learn, especially at first, and I won't be able to deal with any/many bug reports while I'm in that stage. So I don't want to let a bunch of people test it and then have tons of bug reports piling up. I'll gradually let more people use it, but I'm not going to "release" it (even in testing stage) for probably a few weeks. When I do release it, I'll only be able to work on it in my spare time. But that shouldn't be a problem... for years I only worked on this website in my spare time, and in the beginning I was also creating all of the patterns myself (while having a full-time job).

If you personally want to try the pattern maker out, I can let you do that - message me. Just be aware that I will not be actively fixing bugs at first. Though I am preparing to upload a new version of the pattern maker tomorrow which should fix a couple of bugs that maninthebook discovered.

The way I'm calculating them right now... the approval percentages will go down if I am not able to publish patterns for a few days. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or bad thing. It might be useful to know that I am busy this particular week and not accepting as many as normal. But on the other hand, I don't want people to be scared away by a low percentage. Hmm :/

I think I will have to calculate the percentage(s) separately, based on the periods in between approvals and how many of the submitted patterns were approved during that period. That will be more accurate.
